Thank you all for your continued interest in the IOM’s Future of Emergency Care project. I would like to briefly update you on the upcoming release of the reports.
Release date. The release date has been set for Wednesday, June 14th, 2006. Registration is now open. If you would like to attend, please follow the directions posted on our web site: www.iom.edu/emergencycare. Please note that the release will also be web cast, and participants online will be able to ask questions. Instructions for logging into the web cast can also be found online. Press conference. The press briefing for the release of the reports will start promptly at 11 am on June 14th and will be held at the Keck Center of the National Academies (500 5th Street, NW). This press briefing will address all three reports. Each report will also have a dedicated afternoon session. Please check our web site for further details. All of these events are open to the public, but you are asked to pre-register so that accommodations can be made in advance. Dissemination. At the time of the public release, we will make available prepublication versions of the reports and 8 page summaries. These summaries can be published in your organization's journal or newsletter by prior arrangement. We may also be able to arrange for editorials and article submissions by committee members. Let us know if you have any such interest. The hardcover books will available several months after the release, likely in the Fall of 2006. Dissemination Workshops. In an effort to better disseminate findings and make sure the current issues in emergency care are properly addressed, several funders have joined forces to support a series of workshops around the country. Three workshops will be held starting in the Summer of 2006, with a final, fourth workshop scheduled for January 2007 in Washington, DC. More information will be available shortly. Please check back at our web site for more details in the coming weeks. Commissioned Papers and other materials. We plan to make all of the commissioned papers and other materials received through the course of the project available through the National Academies public access file. Please allow approximately one month for the public access file to be updated with all of these materials. Directions for accessing the public access file can be found at www.nationalacademies.org. Again, many thanks for your continued interest, feedback, and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
